OnePlus 6 – now in red

OnePlus 6 Red

After teasing a new colour a couple of days ago, OnePlus makes it official – the OnePlus 6 is coming in red. The new colour variant will debut across all markets starting 10 July without a price premium over the standard OnePlus 6.

After the success of the OnePlus 5T Lava Red, OnePlus decided on red after “evaluating hundreds of colours.”

OnePlus said that red exudes enthusiasm and personality, and it represents inner confidence and courage. “There’s a kind of power in red, which the OnePlus logo has tried to articulate,” the blog post said.

The China smartphone maker said it didn’t want the shade of the red to be overly bright. It believes the colour should be passionate but exercises some level of visual restraint.

To achieve the “amber-like” depth and clarity, OnePlus used a new film coating process that’s never been attempted before in the smartphone industry.

Adding to that, to maintain a bright coating, its design team included a evaporated layer of brightening film to make it crystal clear.

The OnePlus Red will be available starting 10 July 2018. In India, sales will start on 1 July. The device will be available in the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage configuration and will be priced the same as other OnePlus 6 variants.

As a quick refresher, the OnePlus 6 is OnePlus’ best and most premium smartphone yet. The device boasts the best display ever on a OnePlus phone – the all-new 6.28-inch Optic AMOLED fullscreen display. It offers an outstanding 83.8 percent screen-to-body ratio, giving it a bigger display while maintaining roughly the same dimensions as its predecessor.

And did you know it’s also the fastest-selling OnePlus device ever?

Under the hood, the OnePlus 6 uses the most powerful mobile processors available – the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage.

The device features strong cameras: 16MP + 20MP f/1.7 dual-camera with OIS on the rear. The pixel size has been bumped up to 1.22 micron pixels for better low light performance.

The OnePlus 6 runs OxygenOS based on Android Oreo, which has a relatively stock Android experience but with OnePlus’ unique touches.

Juice is supplied by a 3,300mAh cell that charges up rapidly via Dash Charge.
