Never Settle

True to its slogan, OnePlus has taken a no holds barred approach with its flagship’s internals.

The device features the best display OnePlus has ever used on its offerings – an all-new 19:9 6.28-inch Optic AMOLED fullscreen display. It offers an impressive 83.8 percent screen-to-body ratio, touting a bigger display while maintaining similar dimensions to its predecessor.

The great thing about the display is that you can choose from five different display modes with sRGB and DCI-P3 colour gamuts, something you do not find on other smartphones.

The impressive display is housed in a beautiful, sleek metal and glass body protected by Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and back. It is offered in Mirror Black, Midnight Black and Silk White colours.

Mirror Black is certainly to die for, coated with a mirror sheen that gives it the look and feel of ceramic.

In terms of the camera, the OnePlus 6 rocks a 16MP + 20MP f/1.7 dual-camera system with OIS, its best yet. The pixel size has been increased to 1.22 micron pixels for better low light performance.

In line with the current trend of bokehlicious portrait shots, the OnePlus 6 also supports Portrait mode for stunning depth-of-field effects.

The device’s camera supports 4K video at 60fps, and slow-motion video at 240fps @ 1080p, or 480fps @ 720p.

Videos are stabilised with a combination of optical and electronic stabilisation.

As mentioned, the OnePlus 6 takes advantage of Qualcomm’s best SoC to date – the Snapdragon 845 which is 30 percent faster and 10 percent more efficient thant its predecessor. Coupled with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of storage, expect absolutely lag-free performance at all times.

A huge plus is the inclusion of a headphone jack and a USB-C port. Additionally, the device has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor that can unlock within 0.2s to 0.4s. The handset also supports Face Unlock.

The OnePlus 6 runs OxygenOS based on Android Oreo, which has a relatively stock look and feel but with OnePlus’ unique UX touches.

And by the way, there’s an improved Alert Slider on the right side of the device which has three modes: Ring, Vibrate, and Silent.

First introduced with the OnePlus 3, Dash Charge makes a return on the latest OnePlus device. It’s claimed to be the fastest fast-charging technology in the market. A quick half-hour charge is enough to give it a whole day’s worth of juice.

The built-in 3,300mAh is said to last 20 percent longer than the OnePlus 3T.
