After the Samsung GALAXY S5, Sony Mobile’s upcoming flagship Xperia Z2 codenamed “Sirius” or also known with product code D6503, is one of the most rumoured (and leaked) devices approaching the big 2014 Mobile World Congress (MWC) next week. The current flagship Xperia Z1 was announced at IFA 2013 in September last year and it widely believed that Sony will reveal the Xperia Z2 at MWC 2014.
No official specs have so far been released nor verified, but leaked info suggests a 5.2-inch 1080p display (an inch bigger than the Z1). Some reports also point to a possible 2K display (2560 x 1440p). Leaked images show a much thinner bezel that will assure the Z2’s footprint isn’t larger than the Z1 despite the bigger display. This is similar to what Samsung did with the GALAXY Note 3 against the Note 2. Catch the preview of the device at Stuff Mag.
The Xperia Z2 will feature the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core running at 2.3Ghz, and a whopping 3GB RAM.
The new device is expected to keep the impressive 20.7MP main shooter but with a larger 1/2.5” sensor. The camera is apparently capable of 4K and high framerate slow-motion video recording.
The Xperia Z2 is set to run Android 4.4 KitKat with Sony’s very own flavoured UI.
MWC 2014 is just days away, and I can’t wait to see the new Sony flagship.
