Maxis now offers eSIM for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR

Maxis eSIM

The era of eSIM is gradually becoming a reality. Maxis has announced that it is now offering eSIM for the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR. eSIM allows a device to connect to a cellular network without a physical SIM card. This also means that the latest iPhone models can be truly dual-SIM, a much-requested feature.

Maxis is making available eSIM for both its postpaid and Hotlink Postpaid Flex subscribers. It is open to both new and existing customers.

If you’re an existing customer, you can get an eSIM from all Maxis Centres and Maxis Exclusive Partners.

When you purchase a new iPhone from the Maxis Online Store, the new eSIM is included with the device.

Note that there’s a SIM replacement fee (which is ridiculous) if you convert your existing SIM card for an eSIM. The same charge applies if you’re moving from eSIM to physical SIM. In the event that you are switching iPhones, you’ll need to apply for a new QR code for new eSIM activation.

Maxis eSIM setupYour iPhone needs to be on at least iOS 12.1.1 or later to enable eSIM. Once you’ve received the eSIM activation kit, you can activate the eSIM by scanning the QR Code from your iPhone’s Mobile Data settings page.

eSIM stands from embedded SIM, a new technology that is widely used in Japan, South Korea and the USA. Instead of a traditional physical SIM card, the technology is a small chip that is built into device like the iPhone.

This enables flexibility and convenience, making the eSIM independent from a phone.
