What? Hotlink now has a postpaid plan?

Hotlink Postpaid Flex

Maxis’ prepaid service Hotlink just delivered a shocker today. It has launched a postpaid plan. That’s right, I’m as baffled as you are. The all-new Hotlink Postpaid Flex is “all the things you love about Prepaid,” now in a postpaid plan.

Let’s digest that a little bit. Here’s the Hotlink Postpaid Flex in a nutshell. It’s the first-of-its-kind postpaid plan in the market, offering the best of both prepaid and postpaid and the flexibility to boot.

At the most basic level, the plan starts at MYR30 per month, and it comes bundled with unlimited calls & SMS to all networks, as well as 1GB of high-speed data.

Like me you may be wondering, MYR30 per month with 1GB of data. Am I being shafted? Well, no.

Let’s look at it this way. What do we do when we’re on our phones? Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Waze, Instagram, Spotify and more.

Bundles of… joy?

What Hotlink Postpaid Flex offers is similar to the ookyo approach. You buy bundles, and in this case, specific category bundles that offer unlimited data.

There’s a Social bundle that covers Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Pinterest for MYR10 per month.

Music fans like me will love the Music bundle that covers Spotify, JOOX, Saawn and Smule. Premium subscriptions to these services are not included, naturally.

Next, for the chatty ones there’s the Chat bundle that includes WeChat, WhatsApp, LINE, IMO and QQ IM. This costs MYR5 per month.

Essentially, for someone like me, I’d be looking at MYR30 for the basic plan + MYR10 Social, MYR10 Music and MYR5 Chat. A commitment of MYR55 per month, with 1GB of regular high-speed data to spare.

But just in case you need more conventional data, you can add-on 5GB for MYR25 per month, or 1GB/day for MYR5.

To manage your plan, download and install the MyMaxis app, available for iOS and Android.

Just so it’s clear, you cannot use Hotlink reload coupons for Hotlink Postpaid Flex. Like a conventional postpaid plan, you’ll receive a monthly bill.

It also operates like a regular postpaid plan, meaning you can sign-up as well as get support at Maxis Centres, selected Hotlink dealers and Maxis Exclusive Partners (MEPS) nationwide.

You’ll also have the ability to port-in your number, and roaming works like a Maxis postpaid plan.
