Robert Louis Stevenson said, “I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.” Your motivation to travel may differ from mine, but there’s no denying that “wanderlusting” helps to open the mind to new sights, sounds and experiences. And to an extent, it’s a way to destress (from distress), rest and relax; and find “equilibrium.”
Cliché as it sounds, “work life balance” isn’t just a fancy, aspirational phrase. For a company like Maxis, for instance, promoting work life balance is an ongoing effort. And this isn’t lip service.
Maxis believes that its people are its greatest asset. Hence, take care of the people.
In 2015, it introduced #FitterFasterStronger, an employee engagement program with the aim of promoting healthy living and an active lifestyle amongst employees. #FitterFasterStronger is but one of Maxis’ company-wide transformative initiatives.
The program focuses on all aspects – physical, emotional, social, community, financial and career. It’s divided into three principal segments – Lifestyle, Empower and Health-ucate. You can read more about this in my previous post and my baking endeavours with the Maxis team here.
To date, #FitterFasterStronger has given employees access to health fairs, fitness classes, cooking classes, language classes, financial talks and more.
So, back to travel.
Yesterday, 28 February 2017, Maxis organised a one-day Maxis Travel Fair – an exclusive event for all Maxis employees.
The travel fair involved over 30 vendors including airlines, hotels, tourism boards and tour operators:
- Airlines – Malaysia Airlines, Air Asia, Firefly, Malindo Air, Bangkok Airways, Qatar Airways, British Airways, Lufthansa and JAL.
- Hotels – Berjaya Hotels & Resorts, Hilton and Resorts World Sentosa
- Attractions – discounts on admission tickets to Aquaria KLCC, Kidzania, Sanrio Hello Kitty Town & Thomas Town and Legoland.
- Tourism Boards – from Australia, Switzerland, Indonesia, Philippines, Korea, Macau, Thailand and Malaysia.
- Tour companies – Mayflower Holidays, Tabung Haji, Parlo Tours and many more.
The fair gave employees an opportunity to enjoy exclusive offers and deals, claimed to be better than even what’s offered at the popular MATTA fair.
Deals on flight tickets and hotel bookings, as well as offers on tour packages to various destinations around the world, were offered at the event.
Employees also stood a chance to win a lucky draw prize of a 3D/2N holiday to a local destination.
Maxis said that for 2017, it will continue to inspire its employees to focus on their wellbeing. Apart from instilling the culture of learning, the company is also committed to building a strong work culture as it believes in working well, and having fun together.
