Malaysians snap up Huawei Matebook Series

When it comes with notebook PCs, Huawei isn’t the first brand to come to mind. That doesn’t mean the smartphone and telecommunications giant isn’t capable of designing and building one. In fact, its latest Matebook series has flown off the shelves since it was introduced in February this year. Malaysia, surprise, surprise, is the best performing country in terms of sales – exceeding 1,000 units sold in the last two months.

The award-winning flagship Huawei MateBook X Pro is the world’s first FullView touch panel display, and is already available in 60 countries all over the globe including Europe, North and South America, the Pacific and Africa.

Launched alongside the Huawei Mate 20 Series and Watch GT, the notebook portfolio comprises the headliner MateBook X Pro, followed by the more accessible MateBook D.

The Huawei MateBook X Pro has impressed industry players and media, and was named “Best of MWC 2018” by PCMag. It’s the world’s first FullView touchable screen display and features a recessed camera on the keyboard.

It boasts a 91 percent screen-to-body ratio, creating a near borderless display protected by Gorilla Glass.

The 3K LTPS display pushes a remarkable 3000×2000 resolution (260PPI) with 100 percent sRGB colour gamut, 450 nits of maximum brightness and 1500:1 contrast ratio.

Weighing just 1.33kg, the MateBook X Pro measures a slim 14.6mm at its thinnest point.

You’d be impressed with the monstrous 57.4Wh battery underneath its supermodel thin chassis too, delivering up to 12 hours of video playback on a single full charge.

The notebook is powered by the 8th Generation Intel Core i5-8250U processor (or Core i7) coupled with up to 16GB of LPDDR3 2133MHz RAM and 512GB of NVMe PCIe SSD storage.

It also offers a quad speaker system enhanced by Dolby Atmos. Its quad microphones can also accurately pick up sound from up to 4m away.

For extra security and privacy, the MateBook X Pro features a recessed camera sitting discretely on the keyboard when not in use.

The device has a one touch power button that is built-in with a fingerprint scanner for quick authentication and power ups.

Connectivity and expansion wise, the notebook features a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB-A port, two USB-C ports (one supporting Thunderbolt 3), Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/c/g/n/ac (2.4GHZ/5GHZ/2×2 MIMO), and Bluetooth 4.1.

Pricing and availability

The Huawei MateBook X Pro i5 retails for MYR4,999, while the MateBook X Pro i7 goes for MYR6,999. The entry-level MateBook D goes for MYR2,999.

The Huawei MateBook series can be purchased from all Huawei Experience Stores as well as from the SenQ Online Store.
