Lenovo’s flagship ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 8 is now available for pre-order in Malaysia. Touting best-in-class security, signature ThinkPad design and durability, and up to 10th Gen Intel Core processors with vPro, the eight-generation ThinkPad X1 Carbon is everything you need to be and stay productive whether working from home or on the go.

Pricing and pre-order details

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 8 retails from MYR7,299. You can custom-configure yours with uprated processors, memory, storage, and display.

Citibank customers can purchase the flagship notebook on a MYR609 per month instalment plan (12 months).

Features and specs

The ThinkPad’s signature carbon fibre chassis weighs just 1.09kg, measuring merely 15.2mm in depth. As with all ThinkPads, it is comes MIL-STD certified, having passed 12 torturous military-grade tests and over 200 quality checks including suitability in the most extreme conditions.

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon is offered in signature black and a black with carbon-fibre weave on the top cover, exclusive to the 4K display model.

Under the hood, the baseline models come with 8th Gen Intel Core i5-10210U processors, with options of up to new 10th Gen Intel Core i5 and Core i7 silicon with vPro.

Base memory is 8GB LPDDR3 RAM, supporting up to 16GB. Supported storage is up to 2TB PCIe SSD.

Display options range from the baseline 14-inch FHD IPS touchscreen, all the way up to a 14-inch 4K IPS panel with Dolby Vision, offering HDR400 and 500 nits of peak brightness. At the top of the display is the ThinkShutter camera, which you can slide shut for privacy when you’re not using the 720p webcam.

On that note, the device offers unrivaled security and protection with its optional proprietary Privacy Guard display and IR camera.

Additional features such as discreet Trust Platform Module (dTPM) chip delivers next-level encryption to protect you data. It also comes with a match-on-chip fingerprint reader.

In the audio department, the device comes with a Dolby Atmos speaker system complemented by four 360-degree far-field microphones.

Connectivity-wise, the notebook throws in everything you need to get connected including Wi-Fi 802.11 AX, Bluetooth 5.0, and optional WWAN (4G LTE-A) as well as NFC.

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon features a host of ports, too, including two USB-C Thunderbolt 3, two USB 3.1 (Gen 1), HDMI 1.4, Ethernet, headphone/mic combo, microSD card reader.

While retaining the much-loved ThinkPad keyboard experience, the new ThinkPad X1 Carbon features a redesigned keyboard layout with quick access for answering/ending video calls, muting/unmuting mic. The keyboard is spill-resistant and comes with while LED backlighting.

The 51Whr Li-polymer battery provides up to 18 hours of battery life, and it supports Lenovo’s Rapid Charge technology which can restore 80 per cent battery life in just an hour. A 45W charge comes in a box, although you can custom-configure a 65W for Rapid Charge.
