John Legend is the legend of love this Valentine’s Day

John Legend Valentine's Day

I mean, how can you say no to this?

Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections
Give your all to me
I'll give my all to you
You're my end and my beginning

Even if you’re not a fan, admit it, this is a statement of real, unconditional love, right? To love someone no matter what?

Well, apparently there are a lot of people who swoon over John Legend and his hit song “All of Me” all over the world. With more than 1.1 billion streams on Spotify to date, it’s a legend in its own right—and the top song for lovers on Spotify, leading up to Valentine’s Day.

Spotify revealed that “All of Me” is the most-added song in love-themed playlists. Listeners created more than 75 million playlists with the word “love” in the title.

The song isn’t just a top song for womenfolk, it is also the top song choice for men on playlists titled “Valentine’s Day.” It was added to more than 29 million playlists.

Since its release in 2013, streams of the track have spiked by at least 50 percent every year on Valentine’s Day. The most notable spike was in 2017 when it topped 85 percent.

“I hear from so many people that they’ve used it to propose, to walk down the aisle, and to celebrate milestones,” Legend told For the Record. “Thank you all for making me a part of your most memorable moments.”

“The impact of ‘All of Me’ continues to amaze and inspire me,” Legend said.

Spotify fans have also lapped up Legend’s new single, “Conversation in the Dark,” which has already seen more than 10 million streams on Spotify since its release last month. The People’s 2019 “Sexiest Man Alive” said the track has received wife Chrissy Teigen’s stamp of approval.

She said it’s her favourite song of his since “All of Me,” which is pretty high praise from her, lamented Legend.

Clearly, music makes for the best romantic gift on Valentine’s Day. Spotify said that there’s a growing trend with listeners sharing their Valentine’s Day playlists with their special someone on the platform. Last year, Valentine’s Day playlists were shared almost twice as much on 14 February compared to 2018.
