Huawei launches ‘Oh My Wei-Deo’ regional short film contest for youths

What’s your vision of the future? Huawei is inviting youth to share their vision of the connected future in video challenge. With MYR38,000 worth of prizes and 30 hours of fame at an international exhibition this June, the ‘Oh My Wei-Deo’ short film contest starts now till 22 April 2016.

The regional video campaign is open to youths in Malaysia, Singapore and other Asia Pacific countries. The campaign revolves around the theme of a “Better Connect Campus,” “Safe Campus,” and “Better Connected City.”

It encourages the leaders of tomorrow to share their vision of the world, when all people and things are connected.

Goodies up for grabs include grand prizes of 2D/1N trip to Universal Studio Singapore, three sets of Honor 5X smartphones, two Honor Band Z1 smartbands and 10 consolation prizes of MYR500 Starbucks card each.

Selected videos will also get 30-hour airtime at the CommunicAsia 2016 Expo, one of the largest ICT trade events in the AP region. CommunicAsia will run from 31 May – 3 June with an expected turnout of over 50,000 international business delegates.

Qualified and eligible entries will also contend for two distinguished awards including Most Creative Video and Audience Choice.

How does one participate?

  • Choose one out of the three themes
  • Record a video (30s to 3 min) using any device (mobile phone or camcorder) in any format – film, animation or illustration. Minimum 720p resolution.
  • Write a synopsis about your video vision, in 100 words
  • Upload videos to wetransfer.com, send link with name, email address, contact number, university/institution to [email protected] before 22 April 2016
