Following the arrival of the Huawei nova 7 SE, Huawei is bringing another selfie-centric 5G smartphone to Malaysian shores soon. The feature-packed nova 7 will be the first to be preinstalled with Huawei’s Petal Search Widget, an app which makes it easy for you to search for apps in and outside the Huawei AppGallery. The phone will be available for pre-order for one day only—on 7 July 2020.

Pricing and availability

The Huawei nova 7 retails for MYR1,999 and will be available for pre-order on 7 July 2020 at the Huawei Store online.

Pre-order buyers will receive rewards worth MYR1,571, which includes:

  • Huawei nova 7 gift package worth up to MYR1,315 – mini speakers, nova 7 casing, Huawei Video (dimsum category), Huawei Cloud storage (15GB, valid for 12 months), and Member Center Rewards worth up to MYR1,000.
  • Huawei SuperCharge Powerbank 10,000mAh (worth MYR259).
  • Stand a chance to win the Huawei MateBook 13 (worth MYR3,499).

You can also order Huawei’s WiFi AX3 at only MYR299 on 7 July.

The Huawei nova 7 and WiFi AX3 will officially hit all Huawei Experience Stores (HES) from 10 July onwards.

Huawei is currently having its mid-year sale which runs until 7 July 2020.

Features and specs

The Huawei nova 7 is a sleek device, measuring just 7.96mm thick and featuring a mesmerising 3D patterned back. Offered in Midsummer Purple and Space Silver, the nova 7 packs a 6.53-inch FHD+ OLED  FullView display (2,400×1,080) with a punch hole camera on the top left.

It features an all-new 7nm octa-core Kirin 985 chipset coupled with an octa-core Mali-G77 GPU and dual-core NPU. The device comes with 8GB of RAM and a generous 256GB of onboard storage. It does not, however, offer expandable storage.

The phone’s headline feature is the camera system. On the front, you get a whopping 32MP selfie shooter with AI beautification features including facial contouring and Super Night Selfie 3.0.

Over on the back, a quad-camera setup greets you, led by the 64MP f/1.8 main sensor, 8MP f/2.4 telephoto camera, 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 2MP f/2.4 depth camera. The telephoto camera is capable of 5x hybrid zoom and up to 20x digital zoom.

Both front and rear cameras support UHD 4K recording but minus OIS.

Powering the device is an ample 4,000mAh battery that support Huawei SuperCharge. Huawei claims it will go from 0-75 per cent in just half an hour.

Connectivity-wise, the phone supports 5G NR NSA as well as 4G LTE/GSM, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.1, and GPS/Beidou/GLONASS/Galileo/QZSS.

The Huawei nova 7 runs EMUI 10.1.1 with based on Android 10 out-of-the-box.
