HP Sprocket is the photo printer you can carry in your pocket

With the proliferation of smartphones, consumers nowadays are taking lots of photos on-the-go. It’s become a norm to take selfies, shoot what we eat, and in general, just capturing moments on a daily basis. While HP isn’t first to the plate, it’s bringing a nifty device to help you preserve those captured moments—the HP Sprocket Photo Printer.

No bigger than your smartphone, the HP Sprocket enables you to print photos from your Android or iOS device. Using the free HP Sprocket App, you can even add creative touches to your photos with borders, emojis, stickers, filters and fonts.

Photos are transferred from mobile device to the printer via Bluetooth 3.0.

The app supports various file types including JPEG, GIF and PNG, and photos can even be shared on social media.

The photo printer prints 2 x 3” photos on smudge-proof, water-resistant, and tear-resistant HP ZINK paper. That’s not all, the peel-and-stick backing can turn your prints into fun stickers that personalise your items like bags, phones or notebooks. It takes a maximum of 10 pieces of HP ZINK paper at a go. Print speed is as fast as 40 seconds.

Because it uses ZINK technology, no ink catridges are required.

BTW, a pack of 20 sheets of HP Zink Sticky Back photo paper costs MYR40.

The HP Sprocket comes with a built-in 500mAh battery, but HP hasn’t quoted any battery life numbers on their official literature. It takes about 60-90 minutes of charging via micro-USB for full capacity.

Pricing and availability

The HP Sprocket is available now at the HP online store, Lazada and 11street. It retails for MYR599 and comes in Black, White and Red.
