Honda previews new Honda City facelift

Honda City 2017 facelift

The soon-to-be-launched Honda City facelift made a surprise appearance at Honda Malaysia’s annual media event on 16 February 2017. This follows the opening of order for the leading B-segment vehicle on 1 February 2017.

Honda Malaysia has enjoyed a strong start to the year with the newly launched BR-V flying off the shelves with better than expected bookings. The 7,000 bookings received within the month is equivalent to Honda’s 9-month target in the first year of sales.

The leading non-national car brand hopes to continue the momentum with the facelifted 4th generation City. The best-selling B-segment vehicle has seen over 100,000 units sold since its launch in March 2014.

At first glance, the facelifted City doesn’t look overly different from its predecessor. What you’ll notice though, is the exterior enhancements. This includes redesigned headlights with daytime running lights (DRL); and a reworked, more masculine front grille that’s more in line with the new Civic and Accord.

The front and rear bumpers have a new profile and it also gets new two-tone 16-inch allow wheels.

The top-spec “V” grade features LED headlights, and fog lights. In addition there’s a set of LED tail lights and a ducktail spoiler.

Unfortunately, the preview only teased exterior features, but no major changes are expected in the cabin.

A major plus point and difference is the inclusion of Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Push Start Button with Smart Entry as standard on all variants.

The Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV)-certified vehicle retains the 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine, mated to an Earth Dreams CVT transmission.

If you’re curious to have a look at the new City, Honda is having a roadshow to preview the new model. You can also catch it on a mobile truck, traveling from city to city. Details below:
