Kuala Lumpur, 10 October 2012 – Outsourcing Malaysia presented the fifth Smart Sourcing Summit at Royale Chulan Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The event was officiated by YB Datuk Seri Dr. S. Subramaniam, Ministry of Human Resources, Malaysia.

The two-day summit featured prominent speakers who shared their views on Malaysian responsiveness to market expectations, trends in the global sourcing and strategic approaches on going global. The speaker panel included:
- YB Senator Dato’ Idris Jala – Minister in The Prime Minister’s Office and CEO of PEMANDU
- Mr. Michael Warren – Director of Global Sourcing Cluster, MDeC
- Encik Zulfiqar Zinuddin – Senior Vice President Investment of Iskandar Investment Berhad
- S.Swaminathan – Managing Director and CEO of Infosys BPO, India
- Anna Daroy – Consultant at Daroy Consultancy
- Martin Conboy – President of Australian BPO Association
This year’s theme, “Leapfrogging Competition: From Local to Global” was in line with the sourcing industry taking the leap to go global as to many complexities with technologies and services that are coming to the fore, needed to be addressed. A new logo was also unveiled for Outsourcing Malaysia with the launch of the annual Smart Sourcing Summit this year.
The Smart Sourcing Summit 2012 is a gathering of the industry’s who’s who as industry heads meet and exchange ideas on the local and global outsourcing industry. This year’s summit saw a gathering of over 250 delegates of various sectors. The summit is a great platform for people to understand how Malaysia is becoming a global player, reaching greater heights in the industry of outsourcing and its related fields in the industry.
In addition to that, Outsourcing Malaysia also organised the highly regarded Excellence Award and Dinner at the end of the second day which was launched by none other than YB Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Maximus Ongkili, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation. The OM Excellence Award was presented to companies in Malaysia for creating compelling value, thereby enhancing Malaysia’s position in the global sourcing marketplace.
