Lenovo has unveiled its S2 smartphone at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) which boasts enterprise-level security features. The new smartphone runs Lenovo’s custom Mondrian UI on top of Google Android‘s Gingerbread.

The Lenovo S2 also features an 8MP rear camera and a front facing camera with support for panoramic shots and instant cloud-sync. Lenovo offers online storage space with each phone.

At first glance, the Lenovo S2 reminds me of a Sony PSP, with its curved side arches and wide central screen. The Mondrian UI resembles WebOS with its gesture area and app card view. Will reserve further comments until I get to hold one in my hands.

According to a Lenovo spokesman, the S2 is available in China now around $400 (RM1,300).

Lenovo also unveiled the IdeaTab S2, a 10-inch tablet running Ice Cream Sandwich (Android OS 4.0), skinned with Mondrian UI. Powered by a 1.5Ghz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, the IdeaTab S2 also comes with 3G voice support, 1GB of RAM and storage option of up to 64GB. Hardly cutting edge specs, but let’s wait and see the actual product.

CES 2012 runs from January 10-13 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
