BenQ unveils world’s first 4K home theatre DLP projectors with DCI-P3 colour

Film buffs and home theatre enthusiasts are going to love this. BenQ has just unveiled its CinePrime W5700 and W2700 DLP projectors—offering “connoisseur-grade” image quality, world-class colour performance, and personalised customisability. Both have the distinction of being the world’s first 4K home theatre DLP projectors to boast DCI-P3 colour, as well as projector-optimised HDR-PRO support and individual factory colour calibration.

Resolution isn’t something you should be concerned about with the new CinePrime duo—both deliver true 4K performance (3840×2160) and 8.3 million distinct pixels per frame. They use the latest 0.47-inch single-DMD DLP technology and 4K-optimised optical system with six structured groups of 10 all-glass elements. What you can expect: spectacular clarity and ultimate image quality.

But the pièce de résistance is the fusion of true 4K resolution with the digital cinema industry’s DCI-P3 colour standard—delivering glorious authentic colours as envisioned by filmmakers themselves.

BenQ’s CinematicColor technology provides 100 percent DCI-P3 colour space coverage and 100 percent Rec. 79 on the W5700, while the W2700 covers 95 percent of DCI-P3 and 100 percent of Rec. 709. This is backed by individual factory colour calibration reports ensuring Delta?3 colour accuracy.

Proprietary HDR-PRO technology optimised for projection, supporting both HDR10 and HLG formats, further breathe life to images, delivering unmatched dynamic range and contrast.

Film buffs will appreciate BenQ’s proprietary CinemaMaster Video+ technology that delivers motion-adaptive 4K pixel enhancement, colour enhancement, and natural flesh tone rendition.

The compact, light weight BenQ CinePrime projectors boast short throw, big zoom and lens shift to cater to an array of home environments. The W5700 is ideal for dedicated AV rooms, providing generous 1.6X big zoom and 2D H/V lens shift.

Meanwhile, the W2700 features 1.3X big zoom, vertical lens shift as well as CineMaster Audio+ 2 for powerful integrated audio.

Both the W5700 and W2700 are powered by ultra-durable Digital Light Processing technology, the 2015 Academy Award of Merit Oscar-winning technology used in 90 percent of the world’s digital cinemas. This assures long-lasting picture quality with precise colours and razor-sharp clarity without maintenance or degradation over time.

Pricing and availability

The BenQ CinePrime W5700 retails for MYR10,999, while the CinePrime W2700 is priced at MYR7,399. Both will be available by end of July 2019.
