Fancy a visit into outer space? How about sending your favourite friend there? Either way, AXE is giving Malaysians the opportunity for such a journey, in conjunction with their newly launched deodorant body spray, the AXE Apollo.
Why space?
“Space travel for everyone is the next frontier in the human experience,” says Buzz Aldrin, legendary astronaut and pilot of the historic Apollo 11 spacecraft. Yes, the same one that landed on the moon in 1969. “I’m thrilled that AXE is giving young people of today such an extraordinary opportunity to experience some of what I’ve encountered in space.”
AXE Malaysia has embarked on a nation-wide search for this national hero and second Malaysian astronaut, in their biggest product launch ever in their 30 year history.
Together with space legend Buzz Aldrin, AXE has formed their very own academy to recruit such hopefuls, dubbed the AXE Apollo Space Academy (A.A.S.A). Eager participants may join A.A.S.A via their website at AXEApollo.com. Registered Malaysians will then need to garner support and compete for a chance to take this epic journey into space on a flight with international space agency, Space Expedition Corporation (SXC).
The Top 15 in Malaysia will then be short-listed with one chosen to be Malaysia’s representative and compete with over 60 other countries to AXE Apollo Space Academy camp in Florida, United States, with only 22 participants eventually selected for the flight.
The Flight
Partnering with SXC, AXE has secured 22 seats for this epic journey, on the suborbital craft name Lynx. SXC, led by CEO Michael Mol, operates XCOR Aerospace’s Lynx suborbital space plane that takes passengers more than 100 kilometres into space.
