ASUS has unleashed a spanking new gaming notebook under its new TUF Gaming Series, powered by the latest 8th Generation Intel Core “Coffee Lake” processor.
The FX504 is the first notebook in ASUS’ new TUF Gaming Series, an affordable gaming notebook family that’s geared towards durability and stability.
Rocking a slim 2.5cm chassis and tipping the scales of just 2.3kg, the FX504 strikes a balance between performance and portability.
The FX504 uses up to an 120Hz 15.6-inch wide-view FHD matte display (1920×1080) with 130% sRGB (equivalent to 94% NTSC) and 3ms GTG response time. Unfortunately, ASUS will only be offering the FHD IPS 60Hz options.
ASUS’ patented Anti-Dust Cooling (ADC) pairs with HyperCool technology to keep the FX504 dust-free and running cool. ADC repels dust and dirt through two dedicated tunnels to prevent build-up in the thermal fins. There’s a Fan Overboost function with three different modes to balance fan performance and noise level. That’s not all, it features a patented thermal-friendly chassis with intelligent keyboard cool and a dual-fan architecture.
The FX504 is powered by the 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8750HQ processor and packs up to an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics with full Microsoft DirectX 12 support.
The notebook features up to 32GB DDR4 SDRAM, or up to 16GB Intel Optane memory.
In terms of storage, the FX504 packs a 1TB FireCuda solid-state hybrid disk (SSHD), which is 2X faster than a 5400rpm traditional HDD.
Connectivity-wise, there’s Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2×2), Bluetooth 4.0 and in terms of expansion, it offers an array of ports: 1x combo audio jack, 1x Type-A USB 2.0, 2x USB 3.0 ports, 1x RJ45 Ethernet and 1x HDMI (v1.4).
In gaming, audio shouldn’t be left out of the equation, and the FX504 doesn’t skimp in this area. It offers DTS Headphone:X, an immersive 7.1-channel sounds experience with optimised audio profiles for games, movies and sports.
The keyboard is desktop-inspired, optimised for extended gaming and typing. The keys have a lifespan of 20 million key presses, making the FX504 one of the most durable keyboards found in notebooks. The scissor-switched keys have 0.25mm keycap curves and offer 1.8mm of travel. Keys are backlit red and features Exclusive Overstroke technology.
