Acer launches new Windows 10 devices in Taipei

Acer in Taipei, Taiwan today introduced two more Windows 10 devices – Aspire R 14 convertible notebook and the Aspire Z3-700 portable all-in-one PC. The Taiwanese PC maker has been quick to bring Windows 10 devices to the market.

Jason Chen, corporate president and CEO of Acer said in his opening keynote, “Acer has a heritage of delivering the best user experience through innovation in technology and design. With Windows 10, we can now deliver a unique and consistent experience across our comprehensive product portfolio, be it notebooks, desktops, tablets and smartphones, and empower users to do great things with more personal and human technology.”

The two new Windows 10-powered devices launched today are the premium Aspire R 14 (R5-431T/471T) convertible notebook and the Aspire Z3-700 portable all-in-one PC.

Acer also showcased its first ever Windows 10 smartphone – the Liquid Jade Primo which made a debut at IFA 2015. The 5.5-inch smartphone supports Continuum, allowing Windows 10 universal apps to provide seamless PC-like experience when connected to a secondary display.

Multi-talented Aspire R 14

Acer’s R-series of notebooks have won critical acclaim for its innovative and unique form factors, redefining multi-mode in portables and ultimate flexibility.

The Aspire R 14 is the latest in the stable – featuring a new brush metal finish, diamond-cut edge design. It also boasts a new thinner 360-degree dual torque hinge for usage in four modes – laptop, display, tent and tablet.

The R 14 is powered by 6th Gen Intel Core processors, pack up to 8GB DDR3L RAM and SSD storage. The notebook also includes MU-MIMO wireless technology, which is claimed to deliver up to 3x faster download speeds compared to other 802.11ac products.

Aspire Z3-700: The AIO to go

Imagine a desktop PC that you can use as a tablet and move about the home. The Aspire Z3-700 is the all-in-one PC that features a built-in battery that will last for up to 5 hours.

The 17.3-inch Full HD IPS display supports 10-point multi-touch and also supports input via a dedicated stylus.

Powered by Intel Pentium or Celeron processors, it comes with up to 8GB of DDR3L RAM and SSD/HDD storage options.

All this packed into an attractive chassis of just 15.6mm thin and weighs just 2kg light. It comes built in with two kick stands that allows it to stand or lay flat like a big tablet.

Liquid Jade Primo: Ready for Windows 10 prime time

The Liquid Jade Primo is the first Windows 10 smartphone from Acer, packing a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS (401PPI) display, 21MP main camera with dual LED and 8MP front-facing camera.

It’s powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 mated to an Adreno 418 GPU.

Other Acer Windows phones include the Liquid M330 and M320.

Pricing and availability

The Acer Aspire R 14 will be available in North America in late October with prices starting from US$699 (RM2,932), EMEA in late October.

The Acer Aspire Z3-700 will be available in EMEA by end of the year with prices starting at 599euros.

Acer is apparently only bringing the launched products to Malaysia next year.
