Honda Malaysia today made a surprise announcement to open booking for the New CR-V at all its 101 dealerships nationwide. One of the most popular SUVs in the market since its introduction in 2017, the fifth-generation CR-V contributed 19 per cent of sales in the overall non-national SUV segment. The car is set to launch in Q4 2020 and is expected to up the ante again.
The CR-V was the first Completely Knocked-Down (CKD) model to roll out of Honda’s Melaka plant in 2003. Since then, it went on to lead the SUV segment and market share with over 100,000 units sold.
The exterior of the New CR-V is now refined with a more modern and sophisticated aesthetic. A new black grille combined with signature LED headlights complements a new front bumper with a new wing-style chrome fascia.
The look continues to the rear with a new dark chrome and smoked finish taillights. Meanwhile the rear bumper is garnished with new wing-style chrome fascia and new tail pipe finisher.
Additionally, the New CR-V also gets new-design 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
It also now comes equipped with a new handsfree power tailgate that can be activated with a foot motion under the rear bumper to open and close the cargo.
Under the hood, the SUV is powered by the 1.5L VTEC turbocharged engine, outputting 193PS (191bhp) and 243Nm of torque, delivering better performance than a 2.4L naturally-aspirated engine. This is mated to a CVT with dynamic 4WD aided by its Intelligent Control System that manage torque distribution to the wheels.
The New CR-V is available with a full suite of Honda Sensing features that include:
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
- Low-Speed Follow (LSF)
- Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
- Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
- Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
- Road Departure Mitigation (RDM)
- Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
- Auto High-Beam (AHB)
Honda is also making Honda LaneWatch a standard safety feature on the new SUV.
