No iPhone 9 folks, it’s iPhone SE

2020 iPhone SE

Apple’s much-rumoured entry-level iPhone looks set to be called the iPhone SE and not iPhone 9 as heavily speculated. The 4.7-inch wallet-friendly smartphone may go on sale as early as Friday, revealed 9to5Mac.

Funnily enough, it was the Apple Store that leaked the 2020 iPhone SE in a Belkin screen protector listing. The USD39.95 Belkin product called “InvisiGlass Ultra Screen Protection for iPhone SE/8/7” (I use a similar one for my iPhone 11 Pro) is listed for the iPhone SE, iPhone 8 and iPhone 7, confirming the form factor of the upcoming device.

The product also lists a 5.5-inch size although it only makes reference to the iPhone 7 Plus/8 Plus. Apple is believed to be also introducing a bigger 5.5-inch iPhone SE.

The 2020 iPhone SE is believed to offer white, black, and red colour options with 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage configurations. It is expected to rock the Apple A13 Bionic processor, a similar approach to the first iPhone SE where it crammed the flagship 2015 iPhone 6s specs into a 2014 iPhone 5 body. The A13 Bionic current powers the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro+.

The original iPhone SE launched at USD399. The new iPhone SE is predicted to also start at USD399 and the bigger Plus model at USD499.
