It looks like the iPhone may finally have a feature many people have longed for a while – dual-SIM support, according to an image on China Mobile’s Facebook page. There has also been leaks of the dual-SIM card tray in the new Apple smartphone.
Aside from that, there’s also a leaked ad from China Telecom with the picture of the new iPhone with dual-SIM cards and the text, “New iPhone coming soon, dual SIM support, I’ve been waiting for you.”
9to5Mac earlier posted several images (sourced from Weibo) showing purported SIM trays for several colour variants of the new iPhone. This includes space gray or black, silver and gold. What’s interesting is the double-sided design that houses nano-SIMs on both sides of the tray.
Apple’s new devices are speculated to be called iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max (or Plus) and iPhone 9/Xc/Xr.
The entry-level “iPhone 9” will sport a 6.1-inch LCD Retina Display and a single rear camera setup. The iPhone Xs will have a familiar design to the current iPhone X – 5.8-inch OLED display, A12 processor and uprated dual-cameras. The iPhone Xs Max will sport the biggest display yet on an iPhone, a 6.5-inch OLED.
It is unclear if all models will offer dual-SIM support but what’s clear is that China-bound iPhones is likely to feature this capability.
For the rest of the world, well, we’ll have to wait and see.
Apple will launch the new iPhone family (and then some) on 12 September 2018. Stay tuned for more updates.
