Honda Malaysia has upgraded its Accord sedan with the Honda Sensing safety suite, which makes it the second model from the brand to come with the new safety technology next to the CR-V. Read on to learn more.
Honda Malaysia (HM) has just launched the Accord sedan with the new Honda Safety driver assistance system. The same technology is found in the latest Honda CR-V which was launched in Malaysia back in July. As for the price, the top of the range Accord 2.4 VTi-L Advance which is equipped with the new safety net is priced at MYR169,888 on the road without insurance.
So, what is Honda Sensing? Similar to the Honda CR-V, the said safety net uses a variety of equipment such as a millimetre wave radar as well as a monocular camera located on the top of the windscreen.
The two work in tandem to provide a number of active safety features. The other features within Honda Sensing include the lane-departure warning system (LDW), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Forward Collision Warning (FCW) an finally, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). But all of this tech is neatly tucked within the car, so the design is exactly the same as the previous model.
Moving on to the power plant. As the name suggests, the top of the range Accord comes with a 2.4L four cylinder DOHC engine and produces 175bhp and 225Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a five-speed automatic gearbox and is also equipped with paddle shifters.
On another note, the entry-level 2.0L VTi has been dropped from the range. Meaning only the 2.0 VTi-L and the 2.4L VTi-L Advance are the only variants in the Accord range.
In terms of standard equipment, both models come with leather upholstery, auto wipers, four-way powered front passenger seat, rear door window sunshades, Honda LaneWatch as well as a reversing camera. Both Accords come with six airbags, ABS, EBD, brake assist, VSA, HSA as well as ISOFIX points for the rear seats.
Pricing and availability
The price of the base variant 2.0L VTi-L is MYR149,350 on the road without insurance.
