The traditional home desktop PC form factor is gone as you know it. As all-in-one (AIO) PCs become more popular on the desktop, Acer is taking it a step further. Introducing the Aspire Z3-700 — a portable AIO that features a built-in battery that can last for up to five hours of use. The intriguing device was officially launched at the Acer media showcase in Taipei, Taiwan where the Aspire R 14 convertible notebook also made a debut.
Productivity of a desktop, portability of a tablet
Imagine a desktop PC that you can easily lug from study to living room, and with a large multi-touch display that you can use as a giant tablet.
Built into a chassis that’s just 15.6mm slim and 2kg light, the Aspire Z3-700 is the epitome of flexibility. The unique dual kick stand design on the back lets the device stand upright like a monitor or traditional AIO on your desk.
The 17.3-inch Full HD (1920×1080) IPS display is sharp and bright with good viewing angles.
What’s interesting is the Aspire Z3-700 comes built-in with an internal battery that can keep it running for up to five hours, unplugged. Via Bluetooth, just connect your wireless keyboard and mouse and away you go.
The Aspire Z3-700 is powered by either an Intel Pentium N3700 or Celeron N3150 (Braswell) processor, with up to 8GB DDR3 RAM and Intel HD graphics. Internal storage options range from up to a 256GB SSD to 500GB HDD.
It’s obvious the portable AIO is for a general, light home user and not made for raw power per se. Having said that, it doesn’t skimp on expansion and connectivity. You get a couple of USB 3.0 ports, HDMI port, 3.5mm mic jack and a microSD slot. There’s even a holder for a stylus (sold separately).
Acer touts the dual microphone set-up (perfect for Cortana) and stereo speakers with Acer True Harmony Plus technology and Dolby Audio.
The Aspire Z3-700 runs Windows 10.
Pricing and availability
The new Acer Aspire Z3-700 will be available in EMEA by end of the year, starting at 599euros/US$680 (RM2,872). No news if this interesting device will hit Malaysia soon.
