ASUS consolidated its tablet series into the ZenPad family recently, and first ones off the block are the ZenPad 7.0 and lower-spec ZenPad C 7.0. The Taiwan maker showcased the tablet duo at its #ZensationRoadshow at Mid Valley Megamall last Friday, 27 August 2015.
The ZenPad 7.0 is the world’s first customisable tablet, featuring an interchangeable backplate. And it isn’t just for a variety of different looks. You can plug in the Power Case that acts as an additional battery (RM109); add-on an external Dolby DTS speaker (RM249) or give it a touch of class with the Zen Clutch (RM119).
For a limited time only, if you purchase a ZenPad 7.0, you’ll get a Zen Case free of charge.
The ZenPad 7.0 is powered by a quad-core 64-bit Intel Atom X3-C3230 processor coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage. You can expand storage further to up to 128GB via microSD.
On the display front, you get a 7-inch HD (1280×800) IPS display housed in a pleasing polycarbonate body.
The lower-spec, more affordable ZenPad C 7.0 on the other hand, uses the same processor but is only equipped with 1GB RAM. Disappointingly, the screen is a low-resolution 1024x600p display. It is however, a dual-SIM device supporting 3G. Unlike its more expensive sibling, it doesn’t support interchangeable covers.
Pricing and availability
The ZenPad 7.0 retails for RM749 while the ZenPad C 7.0 is priced at RM499. The ZenPad 7.0 is available in Black, White and Metallic. The ZenPad C 7.0 is available in Black, White, Metallic and Red.
