In Part 1 and Part 2 of the Lenovo IdeaPhone K900, I touched on the key features, software, performance and overall verdict of the flagship smartphone from Lenovo. In this post, I’ll touch specifically on the camera hardware and features, which is its huge claim to fame.
Firstly, I’m not the only one who is impressed with the camera.
“The 13MP camera almost made the cut as ‘The Best Part’ in this review. It scores high on every parameter: daylight shots, low-light shots, macro mode, indoor, outdoor, panorama, colour reproduction, noise levels — the list can go on and on. “ – Gizmodo India

Camera hardware
The Sony Exmor RS camera module needs little introduction. The main 13.13MP module with backside illumination (BSI) CMOS image sensor is the same one found in a crop of 2013 high end smartphones like the Xperia Z. The newly-designed f/1.8 lens (the Xperia Z has a f/2.2) is the industry’s thinnest and smallest, with 1.12?m unit pixel size (August 2012) for higher resolution images. The camera is complemented with a dual LED flash.
The Exmor RS is a CMOS image sensor that adopts a unique stacked structure. The use of this stacked structure enables a more compact design in addition to higher image quality and superior functionality. Its compact design also facilitates thinner, lighter device designs like the Lenovo K900.
Coming built-in with RGBW coding and HDR movie functions, the camera module enables capturing of sharp, clear images in low light conditions.
The front-facing camera is rated at 2MP number with a wide-angle lens that offers a useful 88-degree view. Excellent for high-resolutions selfies and video chats.
