The current iPhone 4S sells at $199/$299/$399 price points.
It looks like Apple is continuing its pricing structure –maintaining or reducing prices or new generation products while making the previous generation model super affordable.
It is highly anticipated that Apple will discontinue the iPhone 3GS completely. Expect to pay less than $199 for the iPhone 4S when the iPhone 5 is launched.
Leaked from 9to5Mac – Part codes matrix for the new iPhone launch from a source at a well-known U.S. retail chain: N42A-USA -$199, N42B-USA-$199, N42A-USA-$299, N42B-USA-$299, N42A-USA-$399, N42B-USA-$399. A & B signify black and white.
The new iPhone 5 is widely believed to feature a 4-inch 16:9 ratio Retina Display, thinner two-tone design, nano-SIM, an A5X or A6 processor and a redesigned smaller dock connector.
It is reported that Apple had a prototype codenamed N41 which featured NFC capabilities. However this was eventually replaced by the N42. No reasons given for the switch.
Knowing Apple, they might just reserve NFC for a later improved revision (‘iPhone 5S)’ if they felt the timing wasn’t right to deploy NFC.
Speculations aside, the iPhone 5 has got to be the most anticipated smartphone of 2012.
Can you even wait another day?
