ZTE Blade V8 unboxing: Affordable dual-camera smartphone

ZTE Blade V8

After a little bit of a silence, ZTE is back. This time with the dual-camera ZTE Blade V8, which I first saw at CES 2017. ZTE Malaysia had earlier organized a pre-order offer from 14-20 April 2017 that bundled the device with a TPU case, screen protector and flip case.

As a primer, the ZTE Blade V8 is a mid-range device. It sports a 5.2-inch Full HD IPS display, housed in an all-metal body. It’s solidly built, and features an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor underneath.

It comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. Storage can be expanded via microSD, which takes up a slot on the hybrid dual-SIM tray.

The crown jewels of the device is of course the dual-camera setup on the rear. It uses a 13MP f/2.0 camera (Sony IMX258) coupled with a secondary 2MP camera. In can take some bokehlicious shots, and working in tandem, it can even shoot 3D photos.

The front-facing camera is pretty huge too – a 13MP unit with beautification features.

It runs the latest Android 7.0 Nougat with MiFavor UI 4.2 on top, and is powered by a fairly large 2,730mAh battery.

What’s intriguing is the packaging that the Blade V8 comes in. It doubles as a VR goggle, so you can slide in the phone and start viewing VR content. BTW, the phone comes built-in with a GoVR app.

Here’s what’s in the box.

The ZTE Blade V8 retails at MYR999, and is available now. You can purchase on off Lazada.
