Malaysia’s second WIMAX operator, YES 4G, recently announced that it has expanded its sales network to Malaysia’s East Coast. The sales network comprises over 37 authorised retailers and distributors covering Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan. Launched in November 2010, YES has quickly grown to over 380,000 subscribers, impressive for a provider barely a year old. With 2,000 base stations deployed all over the peninsula, YES has planned an additional 2,000 more base stations for deployment in 2012.
Yes is the only wireless operator that offers uninterrupted 4G data and voice connectivity along the full 966km span of the North-South Expressway – Malaysia’s longest highway. With the launch, YES brings 4G connectivity to along the East-West Expressway.
“I am tremendously delighted that with the expansion of our sales channel and the launch of our first ever East Coast outlet, Yes is now able to serve even more Malaysians with our advanced 4G network. We look forward to bringing world class mobile Internet, telephony and more to enable East Coast cities with a level playing field to fundamentally improve the way people live, work and play. With a network that delivers three to five times faster speeds than any 3G network in the country and with some of the most competitive price points in the industry, this marks another significant milestone in enabling Malaysia’s goal of becoming a high-income economy. No other operator in Malaysia can offer the same performance or value!” said Wing K. Lee, CEO, YTL Communications.
YES was recently recognised at the Broadband World Forum 2011 in Paris, winning the prestigious Broadband InfoVision Awards 2011 under the ‘Best New Service’ category.
Expanding to Malaysia’s East Coast is certainly much welcomed news for many. Next up, East Malaysia!
