If you’ve stepped outside lately, you would have noticed that the dreaded haze is back. But wind has it that a couple of apps can help update you with Air Pollution Index (API) readings and quality of air. The apps, available for Windows 8 and Windows Phone are Phaze and MY Haze, both proudly Malaysian-made.

Phaze is a pretty sexy looking app that updates users on the air quality index. It’s also an app with a sense of humour, blowing you funny recommendations on how you should protect yourself against the haze (known as Phaze Levels). The app also tells you where the wind direction is blowing the shroud; and whether to expect rain to clear the haze.

Phaze is currently supported in the Malaysia region, but expected to rollout to more countries soon. The app is designed by developer Masoud Haghi.

MY Haze checks the API based on your location, and this information can be shared to your social networks. API readings are currently for Malaysia only. The app, which is a breeze to use, was developed by Bryan Lai.
