Wiko Tommy3 is a super affordable 18:9 display 4G LTE smartphone

Wiko Tommy3

Fresh from MWC 2018 in Barcelona, Wiko is bringing its latest device from its Y Range—the Tommy3 to Malaysia. Rocking a wide-screen 18:9 5.45-inch IPS display, the pocketable device runs Android Nougat and boasts 4G LTE for speedy connectivity. All for just over MYR300.

It may not have a full-screen display, but the wide-screen 18:9 ratio 5.45-inch FWVGA+ (960×480) display squeezes into a compact body, making navigation a breeze with a single hand.

Powered by a quad-core MediaTek chip running at 1.3GHz, it also boasts 4G LTE for fast web browsing and video streaming. It packs 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD).

Wiko Tommy3

Camera-wise, the Tommy3 features an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and Auto-HDR. For selfies, there’s a 5MP front snapper with Display Flash, Face Beauty and Live Filters.

Running Android Nougat with Wiko UI on top, the Tommy3 gets the best of Nougat’s latest features including split-screen mode, Battery Tips and Widgets. For your info, the international version runs Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition).

Pricing and availability

The Tommy3 retails at MYR329 and is available in Anthracite, Gold, Bleen and Cherry Red.

You can purchase the device starting today, 5 March at all authorised outlets nationwide. It comes with a standard one-year warranty and as an added bonus, a 120-day replacement warranty as well.

Inital thoughts

The Tommy3 is without a doubt an uber affordable device and possibly the most affordable device with an 18:9 screen ratio. Its closest rival, the Nokia 1 is similarly spec-ed, although lacking a widescreen, a slightly slower processor and has half the storage. It does have the advantage of Android Go out-of-the-box. The Nokia 1 is not yet available in Malaysia and is slated for an April 2018 release in selected markets.
