U Mobile has introduced a new Unlimited Mobile Internet (UMI) plan for its prepaid subscribers – the UMI 48 plan, created to meet demands of smartphone and tablet users who require more data. The new UMI 48 plan complements the highly popular UMI 28 and UMI 18 prepaid plans.

U Mobile’s UMI plan is the most affordable prepaid internet plan in the market today, combining high speed (up to 42Mbps) unlimited mobile internet usage with free calls and SMS – great for staying in touch via social networking, browsing the web and video streaming.

The new UMI 48 plan caters to heavy data users and comes with 2GB data, 100 minutes of free calls and 30 free SMS to all networks. Users can still enjoy unlimited Internet surfing upon exceeding quota, although a fair usage policy applies.

As you know, I currently use the UMI 28 plan which gives me 500MB of unlimited internet access, 100 minutes of free calls to all networks and 30 free SMS to all networks. I also subscribe to BlackBerry Internet Services on top of the UMI 28 plan for an additional RM19/month.

U Mobile also recently introduced the UMI 18 plan, designed for students, teens and the lower income group. Ideal for early smartphone adopters and first time U Mobile subscribers, the plan brings 250GB data with unlimited internet access, free 25 minute worth of calls to all networks and free 25 SMS to all networks.

With U Mobile packages, it isn’t just about free calls and SMS, subscribers are also entitled to U Mobile’s ‘bonUs’ programme where they can enjoy discounts, benefits and rewards from 60 merchants with more than 800 outlets nationwide.

To activate, subscribers can either dial *118*3*1# or SMS <On UMI> to 28118.
