U Mobile and ZTE Corporation have entered into another strategic partnership, to continue to provide a more reliable and resilient network service to its subscribers. The momentous milestone, where the telcos inked a disaster recover (DR) system partnership agreement, was witnessed by Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak and President of People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping.
President Xi Jinping was on a 3-day diplomatic visit to Malaysia as part of his Southeast Asia tour.
The deployment of ZTE’s DR system on U Mobile’s network is expected to complete within 2014. The system will provide more seamless Internet and mobile services to subscribers with minimal interruption.
Wong Heang Tuck, Acting Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of U Mobile said, “We are living in a connected society where almost everyone has access to mobile and internet services wherever they go. Hence, network stability and coverage are keys to connectivity, and we at U Mobile are taking additional measures to safeguard and backup our network system, so that users can continue their seamless mobile experiences and stay connected with U Mobile.”
“ZTE is committed to help U Mobile deliver the best and most robust mobile services to subscribers,” said Fred Zhang, Managing Director of ZTE Malaysia Corporation Sdn Bhd. “We are pleased to strengthen our long-standing relationship with U Mobile through the latest partnership between our companies.”
To celebrate the National Day of the People’s Republic of China, which fell on 1 October, U Mobile threw a special IDD promo where the top 300 prepaid and postpaid plan users who made IDD calls to China were rewarded with 50MB of data on the next day. From 1-10 October, users with accumulated airtime to China of more than 15 minutes stand a chance to be rewarded, even more than once during the promo period.
