TikTok Malaysia IWD 2020

International Women’s Day (8 March) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The annual event has been celebrated for well over a century, and it continues to push the agenda of women’s equality. All across the world, womenfolk are shining and making a difference. Here are five awesome Malaysian women who are doing awesome things on TikTok.

TikTok isn’t exactly the place I’d go to for inspiration on what to cook, but hey, there are millions out there who do. In between viral dance challenges there’s @Chiskhikuzan88 or better known as Cik SnowWhite who prepares mouthwatering meals for her family. From simple snacks to elaborate dishes, you’re bound to end up hungry or better still inspired to cook up a storm in your own kitchen.

Getting fit and living a healthy lifestyle takes work, and who better to inspire you push yourself to the limit than Linora Low @LinoraLow and Joyceline @Joyceline0301. These two incredibly fit women will put the boys to shame, for sure. They share helpful workout videos that will help you meet your fitness goals. The awesome bit is that some of these exercise routines can be done in the comfort of your home. It’s time to get in shape, boys and girls.

I have to give my biggest salute to moms because they’re really superwomen in disguise. Two supermoms–@Grapyemi and @Lennice_Moden capture their favourite moments with their kids and maintaining digital scrapbooks of their favourite family memories, holidays, and activities. This is on top of what they do in their regular day jobs. Catch their heart-string-tugging content on their channels. Prepare to go, “Awwww!”

Be kind. However small the gesture, that little act of kindness can go a long way. @Ms.Aien uses TikTok to spread awareness on the importance of being kind to everyone she meets. You’ll find her videos depicting many scenarios. However, the common theme is “A caring person will bring happiness to people around them.”  Her heart-warming videos inspire us to be better versions of ourselves, especially in an increasingly indifferent and desensitised society.

If you’re a fan of more comedic content, then @michelletai_oe will appeal to you. The Malaysian create content creator does her comedic skits with her friends, speaking mostly in Bahasa Malaysia. Be prepared for a laugh (or two!).
