Gerak Malaysia app to be discontinued on 31 July

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) announced today that the Gerak Malaysia contact tracing app it developed in partnership with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), will be discontinued tomorrow, 31 July 2020.

Royal Malaysia Police get i-VTEC-powered patrol cars

Honda Malaysia has delivered 425 units of the new 2020 Civic 1.8S to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to be used a mobile patrol and enforcement vehicles. The initial delivery date was scheduled for March but had to be postponed due to the Movement Control Order (MCO).

CMCO: Motorcycles and express buses can travel interstate

Contrary to previous restrictions, motorcycles and express buses are now allowed to travel interstate, says the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) in a live stream on Thursday. Interstate travel is strictly for those who have been stranded in their hometowns before the Movement Control Order (MCO) was enforced on 18 March 2020.

The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has released the schedule for interstate travel in a press conference in Bukit Aman today. Interstate travel is specifically for city folk who have been stranded in their hometowns before the Movement Control Order (MCO) came into effect.

100,000 people apply for interstate travel via Gerak Malaysia app

The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) revealed in a statement that around 100,000 people have applied for an interstate travel permit via the Gerak Malaysia app. About 300,000 people have registered with Gerak Malaysia, a mere 12 hours after the official app launch.

[UPDATE] Police: Interstate travel ban remains except for special cases

[UPDATE @ 1.26AM] The IGP has stated that the ban on interstate travel remains and passage is only allowed for special cases. Special permits granting the right for Malaysians to travel between state lines will not be issued simply to anyone who requests one.

Four more detained over spreading fake news on Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV)

Following the arrest of a suspect earlier, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) in cooperation with the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) have arrested another four individuals suspected to be spreading false news about the Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV), also known as the Wuhan virus.
