At the regional Sony Mobile Communications Southeast Asia and Oceania event in Jakarta, Indonesia today, Sony Mobile unveiled its portfolio of new products and declared 2014 to be a transformational year where it will be bigger, bolder and better. Sony showcased its best including the Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, mid-range Xperia M2 and SmartBand SWR10.

2013 was a highly successful year for the Japanese brand, where it gained a #3 position globally in the mobile market behind Apple and Samsung, and as high as #2 in markets like Malaysia and Indonesia.

Matthew Lang, Corporate Vice President and Head of Southeast Asia & Oceania CU, Sony Mobile Communications, said in his opening keynote said, “Entertainment is in Sony’s spirit… this remains true within everything we do – for us 2014 is about bringing the best Sony technology and content together, and taking it further to create absolutely unprecedented, evocative and unique user experiences.”

Xperia Z2

Building on the success of its flagship Xperia Z1, the Xperia Z2 is Sony’s best ever premium waterproof smartphone. As seen at the 2014 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona recently, the Xperia Z2 combines all of Sony’s best technology into one device – the acclaimed TRILUMINOS Display for Mobile with Live Colour LED, Sony’s BIONZ, Exmor and SteadyShot camera technologies, the world’s first digital noise cancelling technology in a smartphone and signature OmniBalance design.

Powering the new flagship is a quad-core 2.3Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 with 3GB of RAM and also comes with a massive 3200mAh battery. Xperia Z2 is both dust- and water-resistant (IP58).

The Xperia Z2 retains the 20.7MP main shooter with a new SteadyShot feature and 4K video capture.

The Xperia Z2 will be available in Malaysia from April 2014 onwards.

Xperia Z2 Tablet

Seen also at MWC 2014 is the world’s slimmest and lightest waterproof tablet – the Xperia Z2 Tablet. The Xperia Z2 Tablet shares much of the Xperia Z2 smartphone underpinnings including the TRILUMINOS Display for mobile with Live Colour LED and digital noise cancelling technology.

The Xperia Z2 Tablet packs a quad-core 2.3Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB RAM and is dust- and water-resistant (rated to IP55 and IP58 standards) and also includes a huge 6,000mAh battery.

At launch, the tablet will be supported by new accessories including BSC10 Bluetooth Speaker dock with Magnetic Charging Pad and HRH10 Bluetooth Remote wit Handset Function.

The Xperia Z2 Tablet will be available in Malaysia from April 2014 onwards.

Xperia M2

The Xperia M2 is Sony’s premium smartphone targeted at the mid-range market. It features Sony’s signature OmniBalance design, 4.8-inch HD display, a super sharp 8MP camera with Exmor RS for mobile, 4G LTE connectivity and a long-lasting battery.

The Xperia M2 goes on sale in Malaysia from April 2014 onwards.

SmartBand SWR10 and Lifelog

Wearables will be one of Sony’s key focus in 2014. First introduced at CES 2014, SmartBand SWR10 signals Sony’ first product within its SmartWear Experience vision – a new user experience based around Lifelogging, “Wearing smart” and “Life tools”.

The SmartWear Experience transcends typical health and fitness tracking but instead grounded in logging life itself – entertainment and social activities.

SmartBand and Lifelog app will be available from March 2014 in over 60 markets worldwide.

Along with the SmartBand, Sony also revealed a special edition SmartWatch 2 for the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup. Custom themes, wearable styles and a new app will be available through Xperia Lounge.

To celebrate the launch of the flagship Xperia Z2, Sony unveiled is exciting #XperiaDetails campaign. The campaign is centred around a 90-second brand film of the life of French dancer and choreographer Jeremie Belingard.
