SOCAR offers VW Passat for less than MYR70/day with free petrol

SOCAR 777 Promo VW Passat

If hatches and SUVs are not your thing, then the next SOCAR promo may tickle your fancy. The leading car-sharing platform and proponent of multi-flexing is offering a Volkswagen Passat 1.8 TSI sedan from as low as MYR5.70 per hour. In fact, from 15 to 21 October, SOCAR is offering 70 percent off your next seven bookings.

Incidentally, SOCAR has hit the 777-car milestone, looking on track to achieve its 1000-car fleet by end of the year. It hit the 400 mark in June. It’s now available in the Klang Valley, Cyberjaya and Johor Bahru.

For the uninitiated, SOCAR is a car-sharing service startup from South Korea. It arrived on Malaysian shores in January this year, and has grown rapidly expanding its availability and fleet.

You can call it a car rental service but with a difference. Firstly, rates are incredibly affordable, from as low as MYR8 per hour depending on the type of car you pick. SOCAR offers super minis like the Perodua Axia, sedans like the Honda City and Toyota Vios, SUV/MPVs like the Honda HR-V and even sporty hatches like the 3-door MINI and MINI John Cooper Works. It has also added a hybrid BMW 330e to the mix.

The difference between SOCAR and a regular car rental company is that petrol is included for free – up too 30km per hour, or 300km per day.

It also has a free door-to-door (D2D) service where you can have a SOCAR delivered to your doorstep.

What’s cool is also the one-way drop-off service to KLIA and KLIA2.

The limited time 777 promo is also applicable for all other vehicles except the MINI (and MINI John Cooper Works) and BMW 330e. To enjoy the discount, all you need to do is apply the promo code 777DW when you make your booking.

The VW Passat is otherwise MYR18.97 per hour on a weekday. With the promo, you can pick one up from just MYR5.70 per hour with 30km of petrol included. If you book it for a full day (24 hours), it will cost you only MYR68.31 with 360km of petrol included. It’s an amazing deal.

On weekends (Saturday and Sunday), rates are slightly more expensive.

As mentioned, SOCAR has a one-way service available in selected locations (look for the one-way label when you book a ride).

The VW Passat with a two-hour booking costs just MYR61.39. Personally, I think one hour is sufficient (based on previous experience) and you can drop it off at any available parking bay at the KLIA multi-level car park.

The 777 Driving Week promo runs from 15 to 21 October 2018.
