ShopBack’s ShopFest regional portal helps you shop smarter

ShopBack ShopFest

ShopBack, the leading online cashback platform has announced ShopFest, a regional shopping festival with an accompanying retail portal that’s designed to help Asia Pacific consumers shop smarter during year-end sales. The portal will be launched in seven countries starting with Malaysia, followed by the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, and Australia.

In Malaysia specifically, the shopping festival covers six major online sale events spanning September to December, namely #MYCYBERSALE, 9.9 Rewards Day (previously 9.9 Cashback Day), 11.11 Single’s Day, Black Friday Cyber Monday, 12.12 Online Fever, as well as Year-End Christmas and New Year Sale.

The ShopFest portal will give consumers access to information about major sales events and how to shop smart.

ShopFest provides a gateway for consumers to discover shopping deals and enjoy bonuses with their purchases during the four-month year-end sales period.

Starting 1 September, there will be online and on-ground activation for ShopFest by ShopBack and supportive e-tailers. Close to MYR10 million cashback is expected to be rewarded during ShopFest.

“We are confident that ShopFest will efficiently connect both e-retailers and consumers specifically for the year-end when consumers are prepared to spend. Our collective efforts will surely amplify the awareness and e-commerce performance, even surpass the 10 times increase in average hourly traffic we achieved during 11.11 Singles’ Day last year,” said Sharmeen Looi, co-founder of ShopBack Malaysia.

ShopBack currently partners with over 500 e-tailers to provide 30 percent cashback for consumers. Approximately 30 leading e-tailers like 11street, Lazada, Expedia, Booking.com, and more, will top up for a super cashback offer (up to 90 percent). Additionally, there will be more than MYR14 million worth of prizes to be won through ShopFest Treasure Chest and Ultimate Experience.

For most e-commerce destinations, Q4 is the busiest buying period in the year. E-commerce giant 11street stated that buying peaks during 11.11 and 12.12 sales with electronics being the most popular category, and fashion coming in a close second.

Similarly, ZALORA highlighted that it ran 24 hours most of the time in Q4 last year, with the busiest day having over 1,000 operators in the peak split, over three shifts. It added that preparations need to be done way ahead to ensure customer experience is not compromised.

Travel booking platform Traveloka disclosed that based on observations, there’s a 50 percent increase in Q4 transactions compared to the previous quarter.
