Samsung’s second foldable smartphone (and a better one)—the Galaxy Z Flip is now available for pre-order in Malaysia until 22 March 2020. Priced at MYR5,888, it’s a whopping MYR2,500 cheaper than the original Galaxy Fold.
Pre-order details
For pre-order customers, Samsung Malaysia will provide Galaxy Z Premier service which comprises a 24/7 Premium Careline, free on-site pickup and delivery for service support within 12 months of purchase. Also, it includes priority/express lane service at the service centre as well as one screen protection (one-time inner screen crack replacement).
You can pre-order the Galaxy Z Flip from Samsung’s official e-stores. Enter the promo code ZFLIPVIP when you checkout. The device is available in Mirror Purple, Mirror Black, and Mirror Gold.
Unpacked in San Francisco in February, the Galaxy Z Flip takes on a Moto Razr-inspired form-factor, detracting from Samsung’s first Galaxy Fold.
Key features and specs
The device folds down into a compact, pocketable device with a tiny 1.1-inch Super AMOLED display on the front. Flip the top cover open and you’ll find a 6.7-inch FHD+ Infinity Flex Display—a Dynamic AMOLED screen with a 21.9:9 screen ratio that features a punch-hole camera. What’s different from the Fold (and the Razr for that matter) is that instead of a plastic OLED display, the Z Flip gets a flexible glass display.
The Galaxy Z Flip also features a new Hideway Hinge which is robust and also allows the device to stay open at a range of angles.
Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Flip features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ chip, one of the most powerful SoCs in the market, paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB of onboard storage.
The dual-camera setup on the back consists of a 12MP f/1.7 wide-angle with Super Speed Dual Pixel AF and OIS, and 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle cameras, while the front camera is a 10MP f/2.4 unit.
It’s powered by a 3,300mAh battery that supports 15W fast-charging via USB-C as well as wireless Qi charging.
