Samsung has announced the Galaxy Tab S6, its latest multi-talented, S Pen-totting tablet that brings the fight to the Apple iPad Air. Designed for ultimate creativity and productivity, the new tablet is also the first tablet to boast a dual-camera system and an on-screen fingerprint scanner.

Here are 9 key things that make the Galaxy Tab S6 awesome.

#1 New S Pen

The Galaxy Tab S6 features a redesigned S Pen that’s great for writing and drawing. With built-in BLE, the new S Pen has remote control functionality including a gesture function called S Pen Air actions. It lets you take selfies and videos, or control multimedia content by using the S Pen. Additionally, the famous stylus features wireless charging that can deliver up to 10 hours of battery life, with just 10 minutes of charge time.

What’s interesting is that the Tab now has a magnetic strip on the back where the S Pen can attach to it to store and charge. Unusual!

#2 New Samsung DeX

An improved version of Samsung DeX is built into the Galaxy Tab S6, giving you an instant and seamless transition to a PC desktop-like experience. The tablet’s new dedicated Book Cover Keyboard has a DeX function key that can launch DeX with a tap. I’m a huge fan of DeX, and this is certainly a plus.

#3 Fine-tuned keyboard

The keyboard has been fine-tuned for better functionality and now includes an S Pen holder, free angle stand, touch pad and several new function keys.

#4 Dual camera

The Galaxy Tab S6 is Samsung’s first dual-camera with an Ultra Wide camera on a tablet. With a 123-degree field of view, it helps you capture more. The dual-camera system consists of 13MP f/2.2 + 5MP f/2.0 sensors on the rear, and an 8MP f/2.0 front-facing unit.

#5 On-screen fingerprint scanner

For the first time ever, Samsung is integrating an on-screen fingerprint scanner to its tablet. The convenience of the scanner is complemented by defence-grade security—Samsung Knox.

Pricing and availability

No local pricing or availability have been announced yet. In the US, it is expected to retail for USD649 (MYR2,711) and USD729 (MYR3,046) for the 6GB + 128GB storage and 8GB + 256GB storage models respectively.
