One of my favourite devices of 2017, the Samsung Galaxy Note FE (Fan Edition) is finally getting a taste of Android Oreo. The big update is being pushed out to Malaysian users as we speak.
Galaxy Note FE users should receive a notification on the phones by now, but in case you haven’t, head over to Settings > Software Update to manually check.
The Android Oreo 8.0 update is a little over 1.37GB in size and it also brings the new Samsung Experience 9.0 upgrade. The latest software update version carry the numbers N935FXXU2BRD4, N935FOLB2BRD4 and N93FXXU2BRD1.
The upgrade brings enhancements and improvements to security, notifications, keyboard, user interface and overall system performance.
It is highly recommended for you to perform a full backup of your device before running any major updates. It is also recommended that you download the update via Wi-Fi, unless you have unlimited data.
Next in line to receive the latest Android update is the Galaxy S7/S7 edge. Samsung had earlier pushed the update to its flagship Galaxy Note8.
The Galaxy Note FE is possibly the best alternative to the flagship Galaxy Note8. It packs a brilliant 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with dual curve edges, the powerful Exynos 8890 chipset mated to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, and excellent 12MP f/1.7 main shooter.
It currently retails for about MYR2,000 and is a viable alternative to more expensive flagships in the market today. The Android Oreo update will put it in good stead, at least for many more months to come.
