Playing in a Pro League of Gaming (albeit digital games) can be challenging. And as in any sport, good sportsmanship is encouraged to grow the gaming community (you know, in a better and negative-free environment). Having said that, one pro player got into some hot soup lately for not following the rules, the “Summoner’s Code“ to be exact.
Christian Rivera @ IWillDominate from the Team Dignitas of League of Legends game was recently highlighted and banned by the developers, Riot Games for “Violations of Summoner’s Code”. He’s been a very, very bad boy (no Xmas prezzies for you).
According to the forum post, IWillDominate was brought before the Tribunal for consideration of a permanent ban. He was brought before the Tribunal for NINE times but was only punished eight times including this recent ban. Here is more:
“He has a persistent record of in-game harassment, verbal abuse, offensive language and negative attitude.
Despite the punishments and official warnings, his harassment score has risen more than 30% from early August to the present date, placing him at the top of the list of North American pro players and among the worst 0.7% of all North American players.
There also have been repeated incidents of similar behavior outside the game.”
-Details from the LOL Community Forum Board.
Now, the punishment for his crimes is a one year permanent ban of any account linked to him and ineligible to play in the League of Legends Championship Series for one year as well. Ouch!
Team Dignitas are now facing some challenging times with this news. Let’s see who will replace him and will Team Dignitas be back again next year for the upcoming Championship? We will never know…
So, gamers out there, please be nice to the newbies and do not rage negatively in the game. Don’t end up like @IWillDominate. Start playing nice from now on,ok?
