OPPO sub-brand Realme makes an official entry into the Malaysian market today with three value-packed devices – Realme 2, Realme 2 Pro and Realme C1. The flagship Realme 2 Pro will go on sale on 11 November, the Realme C1 from 22 November, while the Realme 2 will be available starting 24 November.
Realme’s pricing strategy looks to be aggressive, as it takes on competitors like vivo, Samsung and Xiaomi.
Realme 2
The Realme 2, offered in two configurations: 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage is priced at MYR599 and MYR699 respectively. It’s a tad more expensive than Xiaomi’s Redmi 6 although it offers slightly better specs on paper.
In summary, the Realme 2 packs a 6.2-inch HD+ 19:9 notched full screen display (1520×720) and is powered by the Snapdragon 450 running at 1.8GHz. It comes with a massive 4,230mAh battery that charges up via micro-USB.
CrediIt features a 13MP + 2MP dual-lens rear camera setup, while the front gets an 8MP selfie-shooter.
It’s available in Diamond Black and Diamond Red colour options and will go on sale starting 24 November 2018 through major retail partners including mobile2go, 7mobile and DirectD, just to name a few.
Realme 2 Pro
The flagship Realme 2 Pro is where it gets interesting. The device sports a 6.3-inch FHD+ display with a dewdrop notch design. It’s powered by the powerful but efficient Snapdragon 660AIE chipset, mated to up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
In the camera department, the Realme 2 Pro packs a 16MP f/1.7 + 2MP f/2.4 dual-lens camera setup on the rear and a 16MP f/1.7 selfie shooter.
It offers a fairly large 3,500mAh battery that charges up via micro-USB.
It’s available in Black Sea and Ice Lake colour options.
Taking on the Xiaomi Mi A2, Huawei nova 3i and Samsung A8 2018, the Realme 2 Pro is priced at MYR849 (4GB RAM + 64GB storage), MYR949 (6GB RAM + 64GB storage) and MYR1,099 (8GB RAM + MYR1,099). The top-of-the-line model seems to be the best bang for buck here.
During the annual 11.11 sale, Shopee will be offering all three variants at special discounted pricing: MYR799, MYR899 and MYR999 respectively.
Check out my first impressions of the device and some sample shots from the cameras.
Realme C1
Finally, the entry level C1. The Realme C1 sports a large 6.2-inch HD+ notch full screen display and is powered by the Snapdragon 450 processor. This is mated to a measly 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage but perhaps compensated with a massive 4,230mAh battery. There’s a 13MP + 2MP dual-lens camera system on the rear, and a 5MP AI selfie camera.
The Realme C1 is priced at MYR449, but for a limited time only, Lazada is offering the device for MYR399, from 22 November until 22 December 2018.
