There’s another e-wallet in Malaysia and it’s from Razer

Razer Pay

E-wallets have started to sprout in Malaysia. After GrabPay’s big introduction just weeks back, a new player has joined in the game – this time it’s Razer Pay. Razer? The gaming brand? Yes.

Renowned Singapore gaming company Razer chose Malaysia for the global debut of its e-wallet service. Razer Pay is a partnership between Razer Inc (51%) and Berjaya Corporation Berhad (49%).

Razer Pay initially started out as One2Pay, an e-wallet launched by MOL Inc. in 2017. MOL Inc. was subsequently acquired by Razer in May 2018.

Targeted at the youth and millennials, Razer Pay makes it easy for users to transfer funds to family and friends. Like Digi’s vcash, users can also transfer money from their Razer e-wallet to their bank account.

Razer Pay is of course, made for online transactions – gamers can purchase PIN codes for services such as zGold MOLPoints, Steam Wallet, Garena, Sony PlayStation, Spotify, iflix, and more.

Telcos aren’t left out either. If you have an account with Digi, Maxis, Celcom, U Mobile, and more, you can top up via Razer Pay.

In terms of offline use, the service will be supported at more than 6,000 major retail and F&B outlets including 7-Eleven, Starbucks, Krispy Kreme, Kenny Rogers, 99 Speedmart, Tealive, Wendy’s, and more.

Razer said it will grow its merchant network rapidly which will span F&B, healthcare, travel and other lifestyle services in Malaysia.

Contributing to the nation

Berjaya Corporation Berhad has pledged to donate up to MYR5 million to the national Tabung Harapan Malaysia fund. From 4 July to 30 August 2018, the company will donate MYR10 with each first use of the Razer Pay wallet at participating Berjaya-owned outlets.
