Alongside the Redmi 6 Pro, Xiaomi also quietly revealed a new tablet – the Mi Pad 4. The new tablet is available to pre-order today, with general availability starting 27 June 2018.

The Mi Pad 4 sports a metal unibody design and is narrower and lighter than its predecessor. The display is slightly larger than the Mi Pad 3 – now an 8-inch Full HD+ (1920×1200) display with a 16:10 screen aspect ratio.

Interestingly, the Mi Pad 4 is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 660AIE processor clocked at 2.2GHz, coupled with an Adreno 512 GPU.

It is offered in two configurations: 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB of storage with a microSD slot for further storage expansion.

For the first time ever, Xiaomi is offering 4G LTE connectivity in its tablet. The high-end 4GB + 64GB storage model has a Wi-Fi + cellular data option.

Connectivity-wise, the Mi Pad 4 offers everything except the kitchen sink – Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 LE, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS and a USB Type-C port.

The tablet runs MIUI 9 based on Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. It is reported that Xiaomi has already started rolling out MIUI 9.5 for the tablet in China.

The device boasts a 6,000mAh battery that unfortunately does not come with fast-charging support.

In terms of optics, the tablet features a 13MP f/2.0 main camera, while the front has an 8MP f/2.2 selfie camera. By the way, Xiaomi has integrated Face Unlock with its new tablet.
