The Authorised Mi Store at Suria KLCC officially opens its doors today, although it has been operating for a few weeks. This is the second Authorised Mi Store in Malaysia, after Penang. As part of its launch promo, it is offering customers a MYR113 cash rebate for purchase of any Xiaomi smartphone at the store. Mi Malaysia also announced the availability of the beautiful Mi Mix 2 and Redmi Note 5A Prime.
Xiaomi released the successor to the groundbreaking Mi Mix in Beijing, in September this year. The near bezel-less Mi Mix 2 is more refined, rocking a smaller 18:9 5.99-inch display which pushes out Full HD+ resolution (2160×1080). The new device also has a smaller chin, a 12% reduction from the original Mi Mix.
The big change is the absence of the fancy piezoelectric ceramic driver speaker, now replaced with a conventional speaker at the top.
The Philippe Starck-designed Mi Mix 2 features a similar premium design and build as its predecessor, featuring a 7000 series aluminium frame surrounded by a ceramic body.
Under the hood, it’s all top end stuff, starting with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip, 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
It comes with a commendable 3,400mAh battery that charges up via USB Type-C.
In the camera departments, Xiaomi has stuck with a conventional single 12MP camera setup, adopted from the Mi 6, that comes with a f/2.0 lens with 4-axis OIS and large 1.25um pixels.
It runs MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat.
