HDM Global has announced that its rolling out Android 9 Pie updates to its Nokia 6.1 Plus. The Nokia 6.1 has started receiving Android 9 Pie since 2 November.

The promise of the new generation of Nokia devices running Android One is being future-proof. Every Android One Nokia phone will receive monthly security updates for a period of three years, and OS updates for two years. That aside, Android One is the purest and most secure version of Android, unspoiled by bloatware and third-party skins.

Android 9 Pie builds on the features of Android 8.0 Oreo, with focus on artificial intelligence and machine learning, giving owners a more customised and tailored experience.

Some of the key features:

  • App Actions – Helps you get things done faster by predicting your next move and displaying the right action on your phone
  • Slices – Identifies relevant information of your favourite apps to make them more easily accessible when you need them
  • Adaptive Battery ?– Uses deep learning to understand usage patterns and prioritise battery power on important apps
  • Adaptive Brightness ?– Automatically adapts phone brightness by learning from your interactions with different settings
  • New system navigation?– Features a single home button that provides intelligent predictions and suggestions (user enabled)

The latest Android release introduces new Digital Wellbeing features that encourages you to break from screen time. Some new functionalities include highlighting device time on the phone’s Dashboard, the ability to set time limits for app usage, and Wind Down Mode which fades the phone to grayscale and activates Do Not Disturb at a predetermined time.

As a refresher, the Nokia 6.1 Plus offers a 5.8-inch FHD+ LCD display (1080×2280) with a 19:9 screen aspect ratio. It is powered by a Snapdragon 636 chipset coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It features a 16MP f/2.0 + f/2.2 dual-lens camera on the rear and a 16MP f/2.0 selfie shooter.
