Nokia 2

HMD Global has launched the all-new Nokia 2 in India. The entry-level smartphone comes at a introductory price of just EUR99 (MYR487), and that sounds like a great deal for a new smartphone. The company aims to penetrate the ultra-cheap smartphone segment and hopes to increase their market share in the country.

The Nokia 2 sports a 5-inch HD screen slapped on an aluminium frame body. But the party piece of this little smartphone lies under the skin.

The biggest “wow” factor comes in the form of a massive 4,100mAh battery. A particularly mighty power plant in a tiny body. Nokia says that battery life can span up to two days on a single charge, given that the average use time is within five hours a day.

When it comes to specifications, the Nokia 2 runs on Snapdragon 212, and comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard storage. OK, sure that looks like a 2014-spec device, but let’s not forget the price point.

For extra storage there is a dedicated microSD card slot.

On the camera front, a primary shooter of 8MP and a 5MP selfie shooter are part of the package.

The Nokia 2 runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box, and the company has promised an update to Android 8.0 Oreo very soon.

Another bonus is the addition of Google Assistant. Nokia stated that it is the first smartphone of this segment to have the feature installed.

Pricing and availability

Colour-wise, the Nokia 2 is available in either black, white and copper.

The company added that the Nokia 2 will go on sale somewhere in the middle of November. For the price tag and hefty battery, it should be a good option to consider.

Could we see the launch of the new entry-level smartphone in Malaysia soon?

  • Three things I require in this modern era. A flamboyant ride to stand out of the crowd, an absolute power plant in my hands and lots of Brazilian coffee. Also, Netflix and chill is my motto.
