Neffos C5 Max debuts: Bigger’s definitely better

Neffos C5 Max

We first encountered the Neffos smartphone brand in March this year, where it debuted in Malaysia with the Neffos C5 and C5L. Today, it introduced a bigger sibling–the Neffos C5 Max, featuring a bigger Full HD display, octa-core performance and better cameras.

Neffos is partnering exclusively with 11street, one of Malaysia’s leading e-malls, to help put the C5 Max in more consumer hands.

Bigger, better

The C5 Max sports a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display, a departure from the lower HD displays seen on the C5 and C5L. The higher definition display boasts better 1600:1 contrast ratio, and a wider 178-degree viewing angle.

Powering the budget phablet is the venerable octa-core MediaTek MTK6753 chip running at 1.3GHz. This is coupled to the ARM Mali-T720 MP3 GPU and 2GB of RAM. For storage, there’s 16GB built-in, with microSD expansion.

Expect to capture more than decent photos with the 13MP f/2.0 main shooter with dual LED lens. The fast f/2.0 aperture lens is a surprise, considering the price point of the device. For selfies, there’s a 5MP front-facing camera.

The C5 Max comes loaded with Android 5.1 Lollipop and running a mostly stock-looking UI. Neffos has built in some nifty features like Smart Screenshot to capture multiple screenshots, or enhanced camera filters like Super Camera and pre-requisite Beautify Selfie mode.

Availability and pricing

The Neffos C5 Max is priced at MYR699 (incl. GST) and comes in pearl white or dark grey. The first 50 customers who purchase the device on 11street will receive a free Groovi Ripple portable Bluetooth speaker worth MYR159.

The offer is valid from 28 June to 10 July while stocks last.
