It’s been a while (understatement) since Motorola has had a true flagship phone in its lineup. Not since the Moto X and Moto Z series with Moto Mods. The iconic US smartphone brand, however, has just posted a short video on its Twitter account, announcing a “Motorola Flagship Launch E-vent” happening at 11AM, 22 April 2020 (CDT).
The hyphenated “E” in “E-vent” points to the “Motorola Edge” or “Edge+” that was expected to be launched at MWC Barcelona. Unfortunately, the big event was cancelled due to concerns over the COVID-19 outbreak.
A flagship phone has long been absent from Motorola’s product line-up although it has some measured successes with its low- to mid-range devices, primarily its G and E series.
The Moto Razr, while iconic and an engineering marvel isn’t quite the flagship smartphone people expected, considering the price tag that’s been slapped on it.
Nonetheless, I’m excited to see what will be revealed on 22 April. Stay tuned!
